The Most Perfect Summer Skirt and A Warning

Well, last week my Surface keyboard decided to stop working and, let me tell you, it is very hard to write a blog post by typing on your tablet keyboard! Forgive me for missing last week’s post but that, combined with being wiped out from planning and chaperoning a 24-hour Lock-In with our Youth Group, meant a blog post just didn’t happen. Never fear! I have the most perfect summer skirt to share with you today!

I have dreamed of this skirt for what seems like years. In reality, it’s probably just since last summer. You may have seen this beautiful ruffled midi skirt before as it has been very popular among bloggers. When I finally decided that I would get a new outfit for Easter this year, this skirt was at the top of my list. Paired with a basic balloon sleeve crop top, it would be a simple but elegant Easter outfit. Unfortunately, Easter came and the skirt had not arrived.

Real Talk on Chicwish

I love just about everything that Chicwish puts out. They have a classic, elegant look that really fits my personal style. Plus, the pieces I’ve owned from them are quality pieces (though the sizing is different from US sizes). Bloggers are constantly featuring their dresses, skirts, and tops and I’m always wishing that I could buy them all.

That being said, I haven’t ordered many items from Chicwish because their clothing is pricier than I usually spend on individual pieces and their shipping takes longer. The first skirt I bought from them took almost a month to arrive. But, that was at a time when most popular online retailers (like Sheinside, now Shein) had extended shipping times.

When this skirt went on sale shortly before Easter, I thought that maybe I would give Chicwish another try. The price was within range of what I would spend and my experience with similar international retailers had improved when it came to shipping. I had almost two weeks until Easter and the website said that it would only take 3-5 days to be processed for shipping. Even if it took 5 days before shipping, it was likely to arrive just in time for Easter.

Not so. As I was sitting in church for our Easter service in an old skirt, I got an alert on my phone. My skirt had just shipped – 11 days after ordering. I waited another week for it to actually arrive at my door. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I don’t know if it’s because I’m inundated with Chicwish images on Instagram and sponsored posts, but I expected better of them.

I don’t like being so negative about a retailer whose clothing I love, but I also want to be honest about expectations from Chicwish since I’m not hearing this from other places. Easter is likely a busy time for them and it may be that others haven’t experienced the same shipping issues I have, but from experience I can say that if you want to order from Chicwish, leave extra time for shipping.

A Beautiful Ruffle Skirt

Despite my disappointment with Chicwish’s shipping, the skirt speaks for itself. I’ve worn it a number of times and each time I get multiple compliments.

Part of why I was ok with spending more than I usually would on a skirt for Easter was because I knew I would get more use out of it in the summer too. Dress up this perfect summer skirt for a wedding or church or dress it down for a barbecue or dinner on the beach. This skirt does it all! Just look at all the ways people have worn it!

Some sizing notes:

• It runs small. I am usually a S and I ordered a L. It fits well, not too tight.
• It is high-waisted. Crop tops work well with it and I would almost recommend one over a regular-length top.
• The back dips down lower than I expected. I am not short and yet the skirt almost hits the ground when I wear flats.

I know that this would make the most perfect summer wedding outfit. But if you have a wedding coming up, order now! Then you can guarantee it will arrive in time!

Where the skirt is on the pricier side (though on sale now!), this crop top is under $10 and comes in 4 colors. Do note that the fabric is thicker and it is fitted. I ordered a size M so that the neckline would fit snugly and not fall down.
