Guys…I can’t handle it. There are just way too many cute tacky Christmas sweaters out right now! “Ugly” Christmas sweaters? No way! Are they tacky though? Yes, definitely.

I have been sucked into the vortex of Christmas Outfit shopping and you know what, I don’t even feel bad! I’ve found a lot of great items to share with you from my own personal search. But first, I want to share with you a little story. My saga, if you will, of the cute tacky Christmas sweater of my dreams.

My Quest for the Tacky Christmas Sweater of my Dreams

Three years ago I saw the most amazingly cute “tacky” Christmas sweater on none other than Alyson Haley. But, it was expensive and there was no way I was going to spend that on a sweater I would likely only wear once or twice. And yet…a few weeks later I caved. When I went to buy it (HERE), alas! It was sold out! We’ve all been there, right? We hesitate and then regret? Well, that was the end of the story until…last Christmas it came back, and this time at Nordstrom Rack for a more affordable price!

You would think that I would have learned my lesson after pining for it for two years and I would snatch it up, right? Wrong. We were in a very bad place financially last Christmas and I just couldn’t afford it, even at a reduced price.

I don’t know if my fave will come back again this year but I do know that I have seen two look-alikes already! Whoohoo! In fact, once I saw them I was on a mission to see what all the options were this year. Since I put so much research into seeing what was out there, I figured I should share with you!

Some notes on these:

• Most of the sweaters with 3D elements do not have patterns that extend to the back so there’s no worry of crushing dingle balls or ornaments when you sit down! #2, #5, #7, and #9 do have designs that extend to the back.
• Lookalike alert! #2 and #4 (similar) are all very similar to the cute tacky Christmas sweater I fell in love with! (Also this one in 20119)
• #9 has the CUTEST elbow patches too!
• Just found THIS one…oh my goodness, so good.

It’s about the spirit of the thing…

I realize now that I don’t need a ton of parties to attend to justify buying a cute tacky Christmas sweater. I love the sweater and I know I will wear it multiple times each holiday: at the inevitable ugly Christmas sweater party each season, for the holiday spirit day at school, for the office party, for the church party and heck, for fun on Christmas Eve! Why? Because it’s so festive and fun.

There are plenty of things in this life, in our homes, and our jobs that are difficult to get through during the holidays. Wear the jingle bells! Deck your sweater with tinsel and wear it with pride! If nothing else, you’re letting your own joy and creativity bloom. But my guess? It will bring a smile to the faces of co-workers, students, and customers too! 🙂
