Hello friends! Last week when I was trying to put together a cute teacher outfit I got pretty frustrated when I realized I had already worn my pair of white skinny jeans. At least once a week I put together a white skinny jeans teacher outfit. It’s one of the easiest ways to dress up my basic work wardrobe while staying comfortable. If you don’t have any, that would be my first recommendation for a Spring closet purchase.
First of all, white skinnies are great for work because you can get away with wearing jeans without having them look as casual as a regular pair of jeans. You get what I’m saying? (Somehow I feel like this is a fair way to get around the “no jeans except on Friday” rule without being “unprofessional,” but maybe I’m just fooling myself, lol) Second, as spring approaches, they are a great way to brighten up your fall or winter wardrobe pieces. This olive cardigan was one I picked up two years ago at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale (and still love). It’s definitely one of my “fall” items, but I love the way it looks with an all-white outfit. Pairing your dark tops with a pair of white skinny jeans brightens up the whole look.

Now, I will say that the hunt for the right pair of white skinny jeans can be somewhat daunting. It took me a long time to find the right pair and I’ve owned these for at least 3 years, maybe 4. For me the right pair of white skinny jeans are: ankle length perfect and a thick fabric. I find that ankle length jeans are perfect to pair with any shoe. I’ve worn these with booties for fall, with sandals for summer, and they don’t even bunch up under over-the-knee boots (see this post).
I recommend spending more on a pair of white skinny jeans just because a better quality jean is going to last and it won’t be as see-through. These were purchased from LOFT and I absolutely love the version they are carrying for spring this year with the cute double-fringe on the bottom. I tried them on in-store and they are the same nice thick fabric as the pair I own. Mine have survived the test of time and I would expect this pair to wear the same way. Sign up for LOFT emails and be ready for the next sale! They’re worth it! I’ve also rounded up some other good options of white jeans below.

The olive cardigan and white jeans are a great combo! White just has a way of brightening up an outfit, a room or anything for that matter. It’s a ray of light is what I want to say when I see anything of color white. Beautiful outfit!

Thank you Maureen! You’re totally right about it being a ray of light! I think that must be why I like wearing it so much! It makes me feel lighter and brighter at work!

I haven’t tried LOFT denim! But these looks so good on you! Olive and white is one of my favorite color combos, too.

Thank you Maria! I was really happy with the way it turned out!

I love white jeans, but don’t feel like I’ve found the perfect pair yet! I always wear something that covers my bottom with the pair of have. I feel like they’re almost see through and not very flattering. I’ll have to check out the loft pair, I love their jeans!

Exactly! I’m not joking when I say I looked for a long time. It was over a year, I remember that. This year before I did this post I went and tried on any of the white jeans I could find in stores and there were a few that were ok. The best, by far, were the LOFT pair just because of the thickness. So, definitely check them out in store!

I really need to wear my white skinnies more often! I love them paired with olive (I mean, I love everything with olive!). I’m always so worried about staining them but I think I just need to get over it already!

I was worried about staining them at first too. Oddly enough, I haven’t had much of a problem with that. I do check every time I was them though and spend time spraying with stain remover if I need it. But it works because I’ve had these a long time! Of course, now that I say that I’m going to spill a cup of coffee on them or something! Lol

I love white jeans. They are so fresh and just look crisp and clean. They look perfectly paired with olive. I carry a tide pen with me for stains!

Yes! I love the crisp, clean look! A tide pen is a great idea! I may need to get one of those for work! I haven’t had a lot of problems with stains but it’s better to be prepared!

This really is a great teacher look! What grade do you teach? I’m an American living in Spain working as an English teacher in the public schools here. There really isn’t much of a dress code for teachers or students. That just means I wear jeans more often. I work two days at an elementary school and two at a high school. It always amazes me that the high school doesn’t have a dress code for the students.

Thank you Nina! I teach High School, a class with kids from 9th to 12th grade all in one class. It’s pretty crazy! Lucky you, getting to wear jeans! I think fondly of the days where I could wear jeans every day! I can’t imagine what no dress code would really be like! Are Spanish students more risqué in their clothing choices than American students?

All your outfits are so chic and special. They cost not so much, but its worth it! I remember Carrie Bradshaw saying: “I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet.” You are the same! 🙂

This is such a simple, yet trendy look! I am obsessed with leopard shoes!

Thanks Kristen! I’m obsessed with leopard shoes too. In fact…yesterday at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale I had to tell myself that I did not, in fact, need any more leopard mules! lol…I may have a problem!
