I have two more days to go before a long weekend and BOY do I need it! I wanted to hop on here really quick to share this fun casual holiday outfit perfect for a cozy Thanksgiving or Christmas gathering. I am totally not that girl who starts dressing for Christmas before Thanksgiving but this plaid flannel top gives me all the heart eyes and I can’t help but feel Christmassy!
I was wearing this plaid shirt while curled up on my couch in my faux fur blanket and thought…wow…it looks really good with brown faux fur! lol, an outfit was born! I hunted down this old faux fur vest in my closet, paired it with my trusty white lace dress (see other ways I’ve worn it here and here), and was ready for church!

I should note that when I bought this top I actually went on a plaid shirt hunting expedition. Old Navy had some GREAT prices on plaid tops and before I bought this one I wanted to make sure I couldn’t get two for the price of one! I did end up liking this style but the fit was nothing like the one I’m wearing in this picture. They were a little too tight up top and too billowy down below. But this one fits like a dream and is the perfect length. I’ve worn it long, under vests like this one and tied like you see here in this picture. Though I dressed this up for church, it is easy to switch out the dress for white jeans. It’s the perfect casual holiday outfit staple for the holiday season coming soon!

Red plaid is a must have for me! I actually wore it this week on my blog as well! When paired with the fur it’s great for a dressier look. And your star earrings are the perfect sparkle!

I have been wanting a good red plaid for a few years but I always stall because certain patterns of plaid just look too funny on me. This one is perfect though! I can’t wait to dress it up for all kinds of holiday events! Thanks for stopping by Kristin!

Glad to give you a new idea! A few years ago I saw another blogger pair her tops over dresses to change up a look and I have been doing it ever since! It’s a great way to maximize your wardrobe! Thanks for stopping by Katrina!

Oh I thought that was a shirt and skirt together, great idea to layer the shirt over a dress, nice way to add an extra warm layer to an outfit 🙂
Hope you are having a lovely weekend! We took our family Santa photo today, and I’ve done a little more Christmas shopping to try get organised! 🙂

Haha, I know! It looks like a shirt and skirt! I learned that trick from another blogger a few years ago and have been doing it ever since. You’re right, it adds warmth, plus it’s just a great way to get more use out of my dresses! How exciting that you’re already gearing up for Christmas! I’m all for embracing Christmas early! Whohoo!
