My favorite thing to wear in the fall is an oversized square blanket scarf! When I unpacked the box which contained my blanket scarves I squealed with delight (I’m not even kidding…)! As the temperatures start to drop, wearing an oversized scarf keeps me warm and cozy when I venture outside and serves as a wonderful wrap/shawl when I’m indoors and my arms get chilly. But I have learned that not everyone knows how to tie a blanket scarf and I have to admit that I had to “research” it when I first got interested. A number of people have asked how I tie my blanket scarves so today I’m starting a series on the many ways to tie a blanket scarf.
The blanket scarf I’m wearing in this post is my personal favorite oversized, square scarf. It hit fashion blogger circles like wildfire and is still one of the most popular patterns. There are so many colors in the scarf that I find I can wear it with most things in my closet. Because of that, it’s the one I most frequently wear. How to Tie A Messy Blanket Scarf
This is one of the simplest ways I wear a blanket scarf and I love the way it looks a little messy. This look is done with an oversized (53″- 60″), SQUARE scarf.
First, fold the SQUARE scarf in half so that it forms a triangle.
Bring the ends back to the front and tuck them under the edge of the V in the front.

Love that green cardigan! I have that exact same scarf and just can't handle all that extra material around my neck. I wish I could, because I think it looks great on everyone but me! I use it as a house blanket now. 🙂
