Every time I see the combination of red and pink, I go all heart-eyes!😍 I love pink. And, I love red. Put the two together, and they just POP! It’s an easy valentine’s day outfit combination!

Years ago when Jeremy and I were first dating, I researched Valentine’s Day outfits on Pinterest. He was going to take me out and I had NO idea what to wear. Since I have always been a researcher, that’s what I did! I researched! The pins I saved that day are still floating around in my Pinterest boards and some of my favorites then are still my favorites now. In fact, I totally wore this outfit to church this week!

You know, dressing for Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be complicated. Just incorporate some red or pink, pair it with white or black, and you’ve got an easy Valentine’s Day outfit.

Usually around this time of year I share Valentine’s Day date outfits (see HERE, HERE or HERE) but this year I wanted to share something I would wear to work. I know that not everyone can embrace the double Valentine look with pink and red, but it’s an easy Valentine’s day outfit combination. Plus, I feel like pairing the red and pink makes it extra Valentiney. 👌

I chose a sweater for this outfit because, after two Valentine’s Days in New England, I’ve learned that any Valentine’s Day outfit has to be WARM! I felt so lucky to snag this sweater at H&M during their holiday clearance for $10! It’s got cute little red hearts! It reminds me of this cult favorite, but is way more affordable.

This amazing bow top, however, is still available! I’ve work it for YEARS and it’s still going strong!

Family Christmas Sweaters: Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! We just finished opening packages from Santa and are waiting for breakfast to finish baking!

I just wanted to pop in quickly to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas. It’s just us this year. No family visiting and no long trip for us, but there’s something pretty special about waking up late and just being able to be lazy together. With work, and Jeremy going back to school while working full time, shooting photos for this blog and leading our local youth group, there isn’t always a lot of time for waking up late and just being able to spend relaxing time together.

And so, though I don’t have a big family around this year, I’m so very thankful for this nice relaxing morning with Jeremy. I am so blessed. He goes above and beyond to take care of our family, plan for the future and still help me do something I love in having this blog.

I am also so very thankful for you! I appreciate each and every one of you and can’t believe I get to share my life and style with you each week. We, here in the Evans family, are wishing you a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!

Plaid Pattern Mixing: Office Holiday Style

Yay! Christmas is here and I’m all about dressing that way every day! However, my Christmas outfit enthusiasm can be a little overwhelming for some. So, today I want to share a fun plaid pattern mixing outfit that is just the right amount of Christmas for the classroom or office without being overwhelming.

Plaid Pattern Mixing

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been seeing so much plaid pattern mixing this year. Since the plaids and tweeds are so popular this season, it’s no surprise that a lot of people are mixing them together. I always try to practice pattern mixing but I’m a creature of habit. I tend to stick to mixing similar colors of checks and stripes or stripes and polka dots. This is the first time I’ve really (successfully) tried mixing plaids or even patterns of different colors.

I stumbled upon this plaid pattern mixing combo quite by accident. In my office at home there is a clothing rack where I hang pieces I haven’t shared yet on the blog. I bought this tweed blazer in the fall, intending to try the tweed trend at work. However, the blazer is thicker than I expected and a little more over-sized than I would like for a regular work look. Most of the time I use it as an overcoat so I had a harder time working it into my work style. Plus, I had a lot of other items that were more about fall than winter that I knew needed to get photographed first!

So there it sat (along with this white eyelash sweater) until Black Friday when I brought home all my loot and lined it all up on the clothing rack. I grabbed this red tartan plaid (last seen here and here) and tried it on with my new blazer. (LOVE!) The plaid top got hung up on the rack right next to the tweed blazer and when I came in the room the next morning for work, my eyes popped in excitement because the two check prints looked so great together! I grabbed the hubby and we shot this look at our local theater, which is all dressed up for Christmas too!

Office Holiday Style

I could easily have worn this plaid top with the tweed blazer on its own but it was a little too much Christmas for where I work. So, this cozy sweater (also sitting on the rack to photograph!) was the perfect way to tone down the look so that I still had the pops of red tartan plaid without the overwhelming Christmas feel. It’s a little bit of holiday without full-blown, over-the-top color.
