Ever since Over the Knee boots started appearing all over in the fall I knew I had to find a pair. But, since my teacher’s salary just doesn’t support the Stuart Weitzman pair, I searched high and low for an affordable pair of OTK boots and ended up finding the perfect pair at Forever21! I chose grey because it goes with so many color combinations and doesn’t make as stark of a contrast against white or blue skinny jeans as would black OTK boots.

I just love the way they look against a pair of white skinny jeans, and that is the most common way I wear these, though they could also be paired with a shorter dress or skirt or black leggings. I know these are already sold out but since I featured them in a post this fall, I wanted to make sure I showed one or two ways to wear them. Don’t think that just because I featured them in the fall that they will disappear for the Spring – the gray color is already starting to show up in Spring lookbooks so I expect I will be back with another outfit featuring these later. That being said, this is the perfect time to buy some of the fall pairs on sale, now making them affordable over the knee boots!

How fun it is to travel! A few weeks ago my husband and I took the ferry to Victoria, BC. There’s just something so exciting about a weekend getaway, especially one where I got to ride the waves and use my passport! We left from Port Angeles, WA and spent a little over an hour on the ferry. Even though it was just a weekend, our time in Victoria was wonderful. It’s such a great, walkable city. Next time we will definitely walk on to the ferry as most of what we wanted to see was within walking distance of the ferry dock. The highlight of my trip was definitely tea at the Empress Hotel. In fact, I’m drinking a cup of Empress blend right now!

It was fun to shoot some pictures on our trip. In my Back to School Shopping for Teachers post, the first item I mentioned was a blue blazer so I wanted to make sure to photograph one of the ways I wear my blue blazer. In this outfit I paired it with jeans and booties to show how it can be dressed-down but still classy. I love that blue blazers are so versatile.

I also want to mention my jeans. I don’t know about you, but it is nearly impossible for me to find jeans that fit right, look right and are decent quality at the same time. I haven’t worn jeans as much at school this year because I desperately needed to replace mine. I decided to try a more expensive brand in the hopes that they would fit better and last longer. But after returning two pairs and trying on numerous others at Nordstrom Rack, I came to the conclusion that name brand isn’t always better. Since American Eagle was still having their buy one, get one 50% off sale, I decided to reorder the pair I love and try a new style. Needless to say, when they came in the mail and I tried them on, it was like Cinderella trying on the glass slipper. Finally, the right fit! This pair is thick, dark, and stretches and lifts in the right places. I love them. If you’ve never given American Eagle a try, I would definitely recommend this pair.

My, my, what a busy few weeks it has been! Between school, church and a weekend getaway to Victoria (more about that next week!), things have been pretty crazy around here! When the sun was out last week I had to seize the day and take pictures, even if my husband couldn’t help me with them!

Today’s outfit was an experiment. I had seen some bloggers wearing white on white and some other bloggers wearing suede boots with white skinnies as a way to transition into the fall. It felt a little too white for me, so I added one of my fall favorites, a comfy Aztec Cardigan. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out. For me, it’s the perfect transitional outfit into fall – it pops against the beautiful oranges and reds of fall.
