In the last year a lot of changes have taken place on my blog. After my husband and I moved to Rhode Island, it took a year for me to get a permanent teaching job. This allowed extra time for me to put into planning for and upgrading my blog. Last March I transferred my blog over from blogspot and re-launched with my own domain. Since then I have seen a lot of growth. Though a lot of that extra time disappeared when I started my permanent teaching job, I’m still very pleased with the changes I was able to carry out in 2017.
Though fashion is not my only passion, it has become the main focus of More to Mrs. E in the last year since all the money I would normally use for DIY projects has gone into fixing up the other units in our multifamily home. Since a number of the projects were done with hired professionals, or were simply insanely boring (ie: patching cracks in ceilings), I haven’t done as many DIY projects. Stay tuned though, because I got a sewing machine for Christmas and that means all sorts of DIY options for this year!
I have really enjoyed reading other bloggers’ “Top posts of 2017” and started wondering what my top fashion posts were in 2017. It’s a fun way to reflect on the last year! So, this week I give you my top 5 outfit posts of 2017.

Top 5 Outfit Posts of 2017
5. Button-Up Chambray Outfit Recipe
This lace dress was one of my favorite purchases this year – gorgeous + affordable! I bought it for Easter, but ended up wearing it so many ways, including layered under this chambray top. I love simple ways to re-wear items already in my closet and layering is a great way to make dresses more versatile. This outfit is also typical of my teacher style: a simple background with statement shoes and a statement necklace.
4. Multicolored Skirt for the Classroom
This striped skirt just makes me happy, as you can tell from the picture. I love all the colors in the skirt because I am able to wear it with so many tops. Soon it will be spring, the freezing temperatures will be gone, and I will pull it back out again!
Also featured in this outfit were these laser cut block heels from Jane, which were on repeat last summer and fall!
3. Leggings for Work
At the beginning of last year I was hired as a long-term substitute teacher and was stunned to find that jeans were not in the list of acceptable work attire! Oddly enough, colored pants (even leggings) were. So, I was on a mission to find a pair of colored leggings that would look like pants and still be affordable. Enter these beauties, and my search for the perfect pair of leggings for work was over!
I still wear these colored leggings and they have still held up through many washes.
2. Casual Teacher Outfit
I don’t think of this outfit as being all that creative, but it was one of my top outfit posts from 2017, probably because it is so simple. Anyone, teacher or non-teacher, can wear it. Plus, every single item I’m wearing in this outfit is a workhorse in my closet. Seriously, those mules…I wear them multiple times a week. They were probably my best buy all year – one of my picks from the Nordstrom sale. The olive tunic has been in my closet for years and I still get regular use out of it.
And now…for my top outfit post of 2017…
1. The Cutest Affordable Embroidered Dress
Remember how popular these embroidered tops and dresses were at the beginning of 2017? I’m still a fan, and I love the colors in this one, but I think why this was such a popular post is because this was my first post on my newly re-launched blog. I was overwhelmed with the support I was given as I re-launched my blog. This year I discovered and started participating in linky-parties and I’m so glad that I have. Not only have I valued the support that has been given to my blog, but I’ve treasured getting to know so many new people. What a wonderful thing to get so much inspiration and develop friendships with other bloggers!
So, as I close out this Top 5 Outfits post, I want to express my thanks. I am very thankful for all of you who take the time to visit and comment on my little creative space. I can’t wait to build more friendships and see what 2018 has to offer!
