Hi Friends! I hope your week is off to a great start! I am so glad to have a 3 day weekend. This time in January seems to always be challenging with students. I’m not kidding…my Facebook memory today was three different posts in three different years about how my students were crazy on the exact same day! So, it makes me happy to sit down and just talk to you a little bit about fashion!

I picked up this navy hat back in November from Target and absolutely love it. I’ve been waiting to feature it on my blog because I just hadn’t found the right accessory to pair with it. But then, I was given this great navy plaid scarf for Christmas and I knew I’d found the perfect match!

Target always has a great selection of hats that are good quality and very fashionable. On a teacher’s salary (especially a SUBSTITUTE teacher’s salary) I just can’t afford these beautiful Rag and Bone or Janessa Leone hats. But then here comes Target to the rescue with affordable, fashionable pieces that make accessorizing fun and affordable! I love the metal detail on this felt fedora and unlike some other affordable brands, it holds its shape! I’ve put together a selection of my favorite Target hats for you in the Widget below (so make sure to view this in your computer browser) but most of the time I will find more options in store than are available on the website so next time you’re in Target, swing by the hat section! You won’t be disappointed!

Holiday Outfit Pinspiration

Good morning! Today I have a little Holiday Outfit Pinspiration for you all! When I first got into fashion, I used Pinterest as a place  to find and collect ideas for how to wear some of my favorite items in my closet. It inspired me to try polka dots with plaid and sparkle tank tops over button down shirts. It’s a great place to go to get ideas.

During the holiday season I find myself on Pinterest a lot, gathering ideas for decorations, DIY Gifts, and recipes for holiday meals. So, lately I have found myself going back to my Winter Fashion board and checking out the ideas I’ve collected from the past. Today I want to share a few of those Holiday Outfit ideas with you and how I recreated them using what I have. I don’t claim to have come up with any of these ideas on my own, and I will link the original if I can find it. But maybe it will inspire you to go on Pinterest and get a little Pinspiration for yourself!

I wish my recreation had more white in it, but when recreating Pinterest looks it’s good to work with what you have! I still like the effect and I never would have thought of putting them together on my own!

Pinspiration Holiday Outfit Look #2

Holiday Polka Dot Top and Herringbone Puffer Vest

For this look, I had almost identical items already in my closet. The only thing I didn’t have was a cherry red sweater. So, never fear! You can do this look if you have a red long sleeve shirt! I thought it would be really lumpy over the top of the polka dot top, but it wasn’t bad! Since I had a crew neck top instead of a V-neck top, I created a V at the top with a v-shaped statement necklace.

How to Tie a Winter Scarf (Part 2 Square Blanket Scarf!)

Brr!! It’s getting cold out and I’m so thankful I managed to snag a few of these nice, thick turtlenecks at JC Penney’s black Friday sale! If I’m not wearing my favorite cozy white sweater (from this post), then you can bet I will be wearing one of these turtlenecks. A blanket scarf layered over one of these turtlenecks keeps me nice and warm. A few weeks ago I did a post on How to Tie a Square Blanket Scarf. Today’s post is a follow-up to that post, showing you another way to wear your square blanket scarf. Also, I’ve included the simplest way to tie an oblong winter scarf.

Square Blanket Scarf Style #2

For this look, start where we left off on the last tutorial. The scarf will have two ends hanging down.

How to Tie a Square Blanket Scarf

1. Take the two ends of the scarf and tie them in a knot under the scarf.

2. Make sure to fluff the top of the scarf, especially around the neck to make sure the fullness looks even with the knot now under the scarf.

Simple Way to Tie an Oblong Scarf

FYI: It was VERY windy when we shot these. So…sorry!

How to Tie a Winter Oblong Scarf

1. Bunch/Roll the scarf. I like to have it so that it is mostly just bunched, but the two edges are turned inward towards each other.

2. Position your scarf around your neck in such a way that one side is 2-3 times as long as the other side. (I actually had to adjust this one a little more as I was tying it)

3. Wrap the long end of the oblong scarf around the back of your head.

4. Tuck that long end of the scarf under itself (the part wrapped around neck).

5. Fluff the front and roll the back of the scarf so that the part tucked under is closer to the back of the neck than the side. (I’m not super happy how the final photo turned out but it was SO COLD and I didn’t look at the pics before I called it quits! Whoops! – It really should end up looking more like the photo below from Forever21.
