Bishop Sleeve Blouse for the Classroom

I have had the busiest weekend so this post is going to be short and sweet! I have been working on building up my spring teacher wardrobe. Off-the-shoulder and cold-shoulder tops are all the rage but I just can’t wear them to school! So, when I found this gorgeous bishop sleeve blouse in the perfect shade of light pink, I grabbed it up quick. I just LOVE this blouse but the V neck is cut so low that I had to improvise to be able to wear it to work! I’m glad I did because now I have this awesome lace layering tank top to share with you, a teacher-outfit staple! It comes in 38 colors (!) and is nice and long. You just can’t beat that for under $15!! Definitely check it out!

I do recommend sizing up one size in the pink bishop sleeve blouse. I’m usually a small and the medium was a perfect fit.

White Ankle Pants and Navy Polka Dot Blouse Teacher Outfit

Watching so many teacher friends getting ready to go back to school made me start thinking about work outfits! Last year in my back to school post I wrote about all the different “teacher outfit staples” and a navy polka dot blouse has become another one of these for me. I noticed last week that J.Crew has a very similar blue polka dot blouse to one I own so I have been thinking about how I can wear it for work. When I was repacking some boxes last week in preparation for moving into our house, I came across these white ankle pants and this red neck scarf. An outfit idea was born! You really can’t go wrong with Red and Blue.

Neck scarves started showing up on runways and in Spring designer collections a few months ago and I’ve been waiting to see how I can try the trend. I have been working on ways to re-wear things I already own so I was really happy to come across this red polka dot scarf again (I bought it for my Rosie the Riveter Costume this year!).

The other two major items in this outfit – the navy polka dot blouse and white ankle pants – are such great work outfit basics that when you find one that fits and is made of quality material, buy it. I found the Drew Ankle Pants from The Limited this spring and love them for the thick fabric and inner lining that make them less see-through. Happy Memorial Day everyone! I had a great casual Memorial Day outfit planned but I forgot temporarily that Memorial Day in the Pacific Northwest usually doesn’t involve much sunshine. When my family moved here from the Midwest we were all ready to head to the lake with swim suits or pull out the grill, but after a few years getting rained out, we learned our lesson. Memorial Day in the PNW almost always involves showers so before heading out I traded my regular shoes for my rain boots and grabbed my umbrella. Everything else followed those two items.

So, although this Memorial Day outfit isn’t what I wanted to wear, it’s a good example of how colors from an item (in this case, an umbrella) can inspire an outfit! My red boots were a must in the rain, and since I’m not a big fan of the all-blue-denim-all-over trend, I chose white skinny jeans to pair with my nice warm jean jacket. Using the colors from the floral umbrella, I pulled in this pink top.
