I love breaks from school because it means I can do projects! Today I’m going to share some of my favorite easy reusable DIY projects that reuse things I have around the house!
Easy Reusable DIY Plastic Bag storage
Plastic bags can be used for so many things – packing up glassware, wrapping around ornaments, transporting your lunch to school! I don’t know if it’s just living in the Northwest, but I can’t stand to throw plastic grocery bags away. They must be reused! So, I love using these Kleenex Perfect Fit Tissues (Purple) in my house because they’re decorative and they fit anywhere. Bonus, I can pop the bottom out and reuse them by stuffing them with plastic bags! I pull them out the top like I would Kleenexes!
Make a Bathroom Jar with Lid from old B+BW Candles!
I don’t know about you, but after the holidays I wound up with SO MANY empty Bath and Body Works candle jars. First I cleaned them out and used them to hold my makeup brushes. Then, a quick search on the internet showed me how to add a candle stick and make them into cute little jars for my bathroom.
Steps for Easy Reusable BBW Candle Jars:
1. When the candle has burned down as far as it will go, there will still remain a thin layer of wax. Stick it in the freezer overnight. The next day, use a knife to break up the wax and pop it out. If there is still some wax residue in the bottom I usually heat up some hot water and pour it in to melt the last vestiges of the wax. When it has cooled slightly, wipe it out with a paper towel.
2. I peel off the sticker on the front and then I use my handy-dandy scrubber (seriously, I love this thing!) with some water to scrub the sticker off the bottom.
3. Stick it in the dishwasher to get it squeaky clean!
4. Gather the rest of your materials.
You will need:
- Your clean Bath and Body Works Candle Jar
- Candle stick. (I got mine at Goodwill for $0.25!)
- E600 Clear Craft Adhesive
- (optional) Goop
- Knobs for the top of the lid like these or these. Buy multiples if you want matching jars!
5. Flip the jar upside down. Apply a small amount of E600 to the top of the candlestick. Flip the candle stick upside down and carefully stick to the center of the bottom of the jar (see picture below) and let dry for 24 hours.
6. Apply a drop of the Goop (or E600 would do too) to the base of the knob. Stick it to the center of the lid. A lid with a design helps with finding the center. Let dry with the jar overnight or longer.
7. Turn Right-side up and enjoy in your bathroom!
